Celebrating the Chinese New Year
Eamonn O’Brien, the Columban Director of Cultural Exchange with China, participated in the Lunar New Year of the Chinese community at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Bethnal Green, London on Sunday 10 February. Fr Joseph Liang, the Chinese chaplain in Westminster Diocese who is from mainland China, presided at the mass.

Forum on Catholic Studies for Young Chinese Scholars
The fourth Forum for Young Chinese Scholars was held 5-8 December 2011 in Beijing with 65 participants – 15 more than the 2010 Forum. 78 scholars applied. The China Formation Committee of the Missionary Society of St Columban was very happy to be associated with this forum and Eamonn O’Brien SSC was present.

Columbans support Formation in China
Columbans support Formation in China
Eamonn O’BrienThe China Formation Committee of the Society of St. Columban has participated in a month-long course providing Spiritual Direction training in China. Working alongside UK-based Loyola Hall and the Archdiocese of Beijing, the course was held 3-29 July 2011 at the Diocesan Seminary in Beijing. Columban Eamonn O’Brien, Director of Cultural Exchange with China, was the Course Director and Jesuit Paul Nicholson the Course Tutor.

Cultural Exchange with China (CEC) is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and around 40 people attended this year’s AGM on 14 May at Vaughan House, Westminster.
