A multi-lingual celebration of Unity and Diversity in Birmingham.

On Saturday 24th January 2015, Columaban lay missionaries based in Birmingham,  participated together with Restore (Birmingham churches together supporting asylum seekers and refugees) in an event to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the Anglican Birmingham Cathedral. The event consisted of sharing the different linguistic abilities of our refugee and sanctuary seeking friends who shared songs  and Bible readings in languages from around the world. Restore invited those present to come forward so we could pray for their countries and the countries prayed for included: Cameroon,  the Caribbean, Chile, Ivory Coast, Democratic republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, France,  India, Iran, Ireland, the Philippines, Romania, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Syria, the UK and Zimbabwe.

A prayer for Refugees: Almighty and merciful God, whose Son became a refugee and had no place to call his own; look with mercy on those who today are fleeing from danger, homeless and hungry. Bless those who work to bring them relief; inspire generosity and compassion in all our hearts; and guide the nations of the world towards that day when all will rejoice in your kingdom of justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
