On People today are suffering hugely and the situation today is actually worse than it was at the time of the explosion and will continue to be in the children of people who were exposed there.

Now this is an ethical issue, it’s a life issue and the Church has no problem speaking out on life issues when it involves sexuality so we should be equally involved in speaking out on life issues when it involves the use of a kind of power that could create this horrible hell basically on earth.

And there are multiple other ways of meeting the energy needs of the earth into the future.

We should not give our support in any form to nuclear power.

There is a nuclear plant that helps us hugely here on earth. It is called our Sun and it’s 93,000,000 miles away and that’s where all nuclear power should be.


At his Wednesday General Audience Pope Benedict XVI prayed for victims of the Chernobyl disaster and for those who help alleviate the suffering from the world’s worst nuclear accident.

Two days later Cardinal Martino announced Vatican’s approval for nuclear power!
