Dear Columban friend
We are people of Faith. What we have to look forward to is our union with The God of Life.
We are on a journey towards our creator and Jesus our companion and guide, fills us with delight and joy every step of the way, if we let him. We in turn should share that joy with those we meet on the road.
I remember reading something that was attributed to St. Barnabas that sent a thrill though me and made me smile. I think it sums up why I am a missionary.
Faith, he said begins and ends with hope, hope in life;
Justice begins and ends with holiness;
The works of holiness are made visible by love, and the joy and gladness that love brings.
The work of a missionary is to share one’s faith by bringing a life-giving hope to those in need, striving for justice by living a life of holiness made tangible in one’s joy and love in Christ Jesus.
St. Columban said true love is not in word only, but in deed and truth. We preach eternal life for those who come to know the one true God and Jesus Christ not just through words but through prayer and deeds.
It is in the realisation of our Faith, Hope, Justice and Holiness, that together we can change the world for the better, by truly building the Kingdom of God on Earth by letting it take root in our hearts.
Pray for us that we may truly hear and understand the call of the Holy Spirit today. Pray that we may have the courage and the means to answer that call.
We will continue to remember you and your loved ones in our masses and prayers.
