INTERCESSIONS FOR THE 14th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR
Strengthened in the Lord who is gentle of heart, let us turn to the Lord with all our needs.
Let us pray for the Church throughout the world, for Pope Benedict, for Archbishop
Cormac Murphy-
Let us pray today that, in our world marred by anxiety, violence and distress, we
may find strength and comfort in the loving heart of Jesus – the Lord who is meek
and humble of heart. As we share in the Eucharist, may the Lord refresh us to face
the daily round -
Let us pray that even in today’s harsh economic climate, leaders of the world’s rich nations will respond to the call of the poor; cancel debt, increase aid and work for just trade. In the spirit of today’s gospel, let us pray that each of us will follow Jesus in the path of humble service of all who are in need.
We remember all who are sick especially those of our own parish and our own families wherever they may be. Let us pray that the Lord will strengthen each person to face whatever is to come.
Let us pray for all who have died as a result of violence, for all who have died recently and for our own deceased relatives and friends. May they rest in peace.
Let us ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us as we say: Hail Mary…
Now let us pray for a few moments in silence for our own needs and intentions.
Almighty and ever-
you know our deepest needs and anxieties.
As we share in the Eucharist together
open our hearts to understand your love for us
for you are gentle and humble of heart.
Strengthen us to show your love to all.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN
