Columbans involved in Mission Appeals in Britain

The Columban Missionaries have a mission awareness team in Britain whose members visit parishes in England, Wales and Scotland at weekends. They encourage all Christians to respond to God’s call to spread the Good News of the Kingdom of God, seek funds for their missionary work, and try to raise awareness of the needs of the missions through promotion of the Far East Magazine.
Team members are always willing to give talks and provide displays on the life of a missionary to adult groups and schools. Over the years this work has helped greatly in keeping Columban mission before the Church in Britain. While priority is given to the dioceses assigned to Columbans for mission promotion, there is openness to speaking to groups in other dioceses. Around seven Columban priests are involved in this work, but Columbans based overseas often help out in the summer. Regulars in England are Fr Denis Carter, Fr John Collins, Fr Tom Ryan, Fr Peter Hughes, Fr Dan Horgan, Fr Pat O’Beirne and, in Scotland, Fr Declan McNaughton.
There are special appeals during the year and letters to donors also raise significant funds.
